For the past few years, Build-a-Bear Workshop has added more and more characters to its collection of plush toys based on The Nightmare Before Christmas. And since this year is the 30th anniversary of the film, the new recruits have extra-special touches. Let’s explore Build-a-Bear’s newly expanded The Nightmare Before Christmas plush collection!

Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie have been touched up with special details for their anniversary release. And the Lock, Shock, and Barrel set are brand-new!

If Jack Skellington was modeled after a bear’s skeleton, this is surely what he would look like. This toy’s paw pads have been updated with new commemorative art, but he is otherwise the same design as the previous release.

Like his nemesis Jack, Oogie Boogie is also updated with new art on his paw pads. However, the Boogey Man has an additional feature as well; he lights up (the listing describes it as “glow-in-the-dark,” but the photo suggests the former).

Oogie Boogie’s diabolical hench-children make their debut as a set of pre-stuffed plushes. This terrible trio is a US-only release.

The company also released a toy bear carrier (a cinch bag designed to hold one of Build-a-Bear Workshop’s plushes) with a special 30th anniversary-inspired print.

There are other cuddly characters to explore as well, some of which have been out of stock for quite some time.

Sally has been reimagined as a bear to match her soulmate, Jack. And like Jack and Oogie Boogie, she has art on her paw pads. However, they have not been changed since her release. The textured hair is a nice touch.

Zero is the most budget-friendly of the plushes from this collection. Couple that with his lovable design (not to mention endearing character), and you have a plush toy that is bound to sell out quickly.

The Mayor of Halloween Town is the collection’s most expensive character, even out-pricing the 30th-anniversary plushes. However, once you consider his girth, detailed outfit, and ability to rotate his head to switch faces, the pricetag starts to make more sense.

Besides being an overall well-done rendition of the Vampire Teddy, this toy seems the closest to being of film-accurate size. Also, he’s smiling! Have you noticed that most of the plushes of this guy depict him with his mouth closed? Fans of the character will want to add this one their collection.

These outfits and accessories will help make other Build-a-Bear plushes themed to The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Take your toy buddy trick-or-treating with these costumes modeled after the outfits worn by characters from the movie.

Jack Skellington Suit ($18)

Pumpkin King Costume ($18)

Sally Dress ($16)

There are also some “everyday wear” options with design themed to The Nightmare Before Christmas.

King Jack Hoodie ($10.50)

Jack Pajama Sleeper ($13.50)

And finally, there are several music boxes with song clips from the movie that you can stuff inside your plush friend during the building process (they cannot be added to pre-stuffed friends). Options include “This is Halloween,”“Oogie Boogie’s Song,” and “Sally’s Song” (this last one is online-exclusive). Each song costs $8.
